About Derek Pike
Derek Pike is a half-Japanese & half-English director who spends his time between New York and Los Angeles. Derek was a professional competing snowboarder in his teens. He became the go-to guy shooting snowboard videos for all his friends, and found himself having more fun behind the camera and in the editing room than on the slopes. He got his start directing guerrilla videos for some of music’s biggest underground acts while attending NYU’s film school. At the age of 21, he became one of the youngest directors to have a music video featured on MTV.
Dereks passion lies in the real, he enjoys exploring the depth of human experience over pure fiction. As a child he would interrupt his Grandma’s readings of Dr Seuss to ask her about her time in the Japanese internment camps. To date, Derek has directed over 100 music videos with #1’s on MTV and BET countdown shows. Derek has shot commercials for the likes of Bud Light and Macy’s and directed music videos for Wiz Khalifa, Waka Flocka Flame, and ruth B.
Derek is currently in development on multiple feature film projects.
